Mason Betha a.k.a Mase has
only been known in Hip-Hop circles commerically for about 2 years, but
thats not to say he hasn't been around. The last 2 years he has become famous
commerically because of the success of tracks "Only You"(Remix), "Can't
Nobody Hold Me Down", "Just a Touch"(Remix) and Tasha Holiday's album titled
track "Just The Way You Like It". This past summer his fame even grew larger
with the release of the "Mo Money Mo Problems" single. But what a lot of
people don't know is that Mase has been ripping it up in undergound tracks/freestyles
for the past couple years- i.e. "Harlem Globetrotters", "Harlem World"
(Single)' most of that material has been released on assorted DJ mixtapes
(DJ Clue) a lot of the time known as "Mase Murder". Mase also got skills
on the freestyle tip, check him out on this Hot 97 Radio Freestyle.
Also in late August, Mase released what was soon to be the first "Harlem
World" single "Feel So Good" on the Money Talks Soundtrack. Which was later
released on October 14 1997, also you can check out Mase's first solo video
"Feel So Good" (Courtesy MTV News). His debut album Harlem World was released
on October 28 1997 after much hype all across the world. The album has
gotten mixed views by fans all across the world (saying that it is just
to commerical, I'd rather see Mcgruff and Big L on tracks other than Billy
Lawrence and Monifah) . But besides those remarks Bad Boy has put out other
hit album that hit Billboard Number One on its first week.Check out Mase
as he talks about his worries about his debut album, "He was more worried
about indenity rather than sales..." a...well only time will tell if Mase
can stand up and become one the leader of Bad Boy Records, kinda the "Heir
To The Thone" at Bad Boy to take the place of Notorious B.I.G. for the
time.
